What should you check before opening an account?

Check the fee displayed on your exact order. Some markets have different charges.
Read settlement rules before treating two similarly titled contracts as equivalent.

How do you calculate the actual cost?

Read the exact order preview, applicable fees, and settlement rules. A winning contract’s payout includes the return of your purchase cost; it is not all profit. Use the payout calculator for an illustrative scenario, then verify real charges on the platform.

How do market and order type affect fees?

Kalshi’s fee guidance says charges can differ between markets. Certain resting orders incur maker fees only when executed; cancelling an unfilled resting order does not itself incur those maker fees. Use the current schedule and order preview for the contract you are comparing.

Which deposit methods can your account use?

The transfer guide lists bank transfers, debit cards, digital wallets, crypto and wires. Cash App is listed for deposits only. International accounts have different options. A supported payment method does not establish that a New York account can trade a particular product.

When can withdrawn money arrive?

Kalshi says bank withdrawals are for U.S. users, carry no bank-withdrawal fee, and typically arrive within a few business days. Recently deposited money may first need to clear a security hold. This is the provider’s guidance, not a withdrawal speed we have tested.

Why can trading balance exceed withdrawable cash?

The security-hold guide separates deposited funds from settled earnings. It also states that money in open positions is unavailable for withdrawal until those positions are closed. Check the account’s withdrawal screen for the release time of each deposit.
